"This design is a play on "the eye of providence," also sometimes called the eye of Horus. It's a cross-cultural symbol representing protection, healing, and someone watching over you. We used Gared's actual eye here. The symbols beneath it are of being broken and constantly rebuilding - laurel leaves - a sign of victory, a broken chain that is band members coming and going, a bent nail because trying to repair is not always simple, the burnt match but with the flame directly above still strong in the pupil of the eye, a knotted rope that is the strength of bonds, the needle and thread that sews together the holes, and the two teardrops, one for Gared and one for Matt..."
